Jim Weller’s bio

A lifelong resident of Dayton, local bald eagle enthusiast Jim Weller first became fascinated with these majestic birds at around 5 years of age. This led to eagles being the subject of multiple research papers, book reports and art projects throughout his school years. When nesting eagles finally returned to Dayton in 2008, ending a 70 year absence, Jim founded The Eastwood Eagle Watchers, a group dedicated to protecting the eagle's habitat, educating people about the birds and sharing their amazing adventures. In early 2018 a second pair of bald eagles began nesting in Carillon Historical Park and Jim began serving as the park's eagle expert. Jim has authored an educational children's book which was published in 2019. Orv and Willa Find a Home recounts the story of the Carillon eagles' arrival in Dayton.
